You know what I did today?
I played chase with my son, in his powerchair. He finally got the speed adjusted to normal person walking speed, and he chased me around the church gymnasium with the biggest smile on his face. He went through the partition separating the gym from the chapel, and back again. He drove it for an hour. But his favorite part was the chasing-I could tell.
It was amazing. We got to be just like everyone else.
I also have to add this: yesterday Dakin was sitting in my lap while watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. As the opening credits played, he said, "Clubhouse so bootiful. Like Mommy bootiful."
Smiles...

Definitely awesome stuff!
I read Your "diary" everyday and it is just pleasure to observe Dakin's adventures :)
I'm from Poland and my nephew also suffers from SMARD1.
Lots of kisses from Poland!!! :)
What a wonderful day! I am so happy for you and your boy!!!
Awesome once again, the Amazing Dakin!! I bet you caught mommy lots of times!! Soon you will figure out how to go super fast and leave mommy in the dust ;) Horray for building towards independence!! And such a sweet heart you have! You certainly are a precious gift!!
Thank you for your blog. I thought I would let you know I have been reading it for the past month or so. My little boy passed away 2 1/2 weeks ago and they think he had SMARD. Your little guy is too cute.
Good Luck. You are a true inspiration. So beautiful...indeed.
Hooray for Dakin... hooray and happy for his sweet mommy.
Have been testing out the powerchair with Zoey. We shall see if it is going to be an option for her. Posted a video of the little adventure ... a beginning. a starting place. We shall see where we go from here.
