We are trying our hand at container gardening this year. We have some herbs and peppers, and a flower--a purple zinnia--for Dakin. We're hoping it works out, as the last time we tried container gardening it was a miserable failure!
The zinnia package says they are guaranteed to grow. We'll see. Dakin's glasses were slipping at this point.

good luck on the garden, looks like Dakin was having fun.
oh I hope it turns out good, it looks like he was having fun with it.
So cute! Glad you got outside!
how neat! kids always like watching things grow.
Hello! My mom sent me a link to your blog the other day, because she found it very touching. My name is also Dakin, and I just wanted to give support from one Dakin to another, and to say to keep going strong with whatever you do.
I'm a Dakin. I graduated high school in three years and I'm now spending a gap year abroad in France with an exchange program called AFS. For Dakins, anything is possible! I've had an amazing experience here, and one of my five (5) hosting siblings, ranging from age 2 to 12, is 50% mentally handicapped. I know that mental and physical handicaps are VERY different (I worked in a special needs residence home for three years), and I wanted to say that what you are all going through (especially you Dakin!) is very courageous, and not many people could handle even the simple every day struggles that you go through. Your story is inspiring, and I can't wait to continue following your periodical updates.

Love seeing Dakin and his green thumb. Okay, so it's not really green, but I love that he's getting his hands dirty. I bet he had fun! Hope to see pictures of his flower when it blooms.
